A massive hand, raw and deliberate, stretches into the void. Suspended from its finger, a tiny, barely formed figure dangles like a secret too heavy to carry but too dangerous to release. The hand is human but exaggerated, distorted by memory and moral weight. There’s no courtroom here, only the internal introspection where shame, accountability, and denial echo in endless cycles. This is not a depiction of judgment but the anatomy of it. Influenced by Freud’s exploration of guilt and repression, “Guilty Conscience” invites the viewer to consider how a single thought or action can hang unresolved in the psyche. The figure is both victim and perpetrator, a whisper of regret clinging to a hand that may never let go.
